Firefighters were called to Holyoake Road in Headington at about 3pm today after a car caught fire.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the silver Mercedes 4X4 was destroyed by the fire, and nearby St Leonard’s Road and Stile Road were closed off while it was put out.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope said it was too early to say whether the incident is being treated as arson.

No injuries were reported.
