DNA tests have been carried out in a bid to find out how an RAF firefighter died, it has been reported.
Charlie and Susan Fleeting believe their son, 24-year-old Robert, was murdered two years ago at RAF Benson.
His death on September 4, 2011, was originally ruled as suicide but police have since reopened the case.
Officers from Thames Valley Police are now reported to have taken samples from his parents to test against DNA on the clothes their son was wearing when he was found hanged at the base.
Scottish paper the Daily Record said unidentified DNA can then be checked for a match and servicemen from the base could be asked for samples.
An inquest ruled the RAF firefighter, from East Kilbride, killed himself. But his parents claim he was killed to cover up an initiation ceremony gone wrong.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission later reported a number of flaws in the original investigation.
The IPCC said Robert’s internal injuries had “been left entirely unexplained”.
