CHILDREN with brain and spinal tumours were given a sweet treat.
They received £300 from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund, not for chocolate – but for pizza.
These young people, pictured, are beneficiaries of the Didcot charity Friends of OSCAR.
For more than 10 years the charity has given support and information to children diagnosed with brain and spinal tumours and their families.
It provides the opportunity for families to spend time together outside hospital and offers parental support meetings.
Secretary Carol Harrison said: “This donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund couldn’t have come at a better time.
“Every year we raise money to fund a weekend away for our younger members, so they can meet new people and most importantly, have fun.
“With this donation we can offer a make-your-own-pizza session for this year’s away weekend.”
Galaxy is now looking for more community groups and charities to help next year.
Open for entries until February 23, 2014, the fund will distribute five £300 awards to winning applications every week.
