BRAVE Katie-Olivia Pridmore has said farewell to her long locks.

And she has done it so they can be used to make a wig for cancer sufferers.

The 13-year-old was inspired to go for the chop by pop star Jessie J – who this year shaved her head for Comic Relief.

Now the hair will be sold to wigmaking firm Banbury Postiche, which will donate her as yet unrevealed fee to charity Cancer Research UK.

The year nine Wheatley Park School pupil had the locks lopped off at Eclipse Hair Design, North Street, Thame, on Friday.

The Tiddington resident said: “I thought, if Jessie J can do it, why can’t I?

“I am getting used to it. It is easier to shower and dry quickly.”

The teenager, who has had her hair long since childhood, said: “I’m going to see how it goes. I may grow it back.”

Sales account manager mum Stephanie, 52, said: “I couldn’t believe it when she first said it.

“I thought: ‘give it a couple of months to see if it is what she wanted to do’. But she hasn’t changed her mind.

“I was very, very proud. Some of the hairdressers had tears in their eyes. It is lovely. It suits her very much.”
