EIGHTY million pounds is a lot of money.
And that is how much cash is being pumped into the Bodleian Library.
One of the key things is that the new section of the library will have better access.
There will also be bigger display spaces.
Who could complain?
From now on, the library will not only be something used by those at the university.
It will also be opened up to the general public.
And that can only be a good thing.
We all know that the library is one of the grandest and greatest in the world.
It contains more than 10,000 medieval manuscripts, along with two Shakespeare First Folios.
The library is a national treasure and anything that can be done to open it up to more people has to be celebrated.
The investment will benefit students for years to come.
Hopefully, it will also help generations of ordinary book-lovers.
