MEMBERS of Bicester Local History Society have produced a book of photographs contrasting the town then and now.

Called Bicester Through Time, the team have collected more than 80 old photographs and printed them alongside pictures of current views. The book is divided into chapters on Kings End, Market Place, London Road, Sheep Street and Banbury/Buckingham Road.

And each pair of photographs has a write-up giving information about the buildings or the area in the picture.

Bob Hessian, chairman of the society, explained the original publisher pulled out when the recession hit.

But a new publisher was found who added Bicester to their Through Time series of books and the society were able to meet their tight publishing schedule.

Mr Hessian said: “Bicester is changing so quickly it’s a full-time job keeping up with progress.”

s The book costs £14.99 and is available at Coles Bookstore, in Crown Walk.
