A post mortem examination carried out on the body believed to be Jayden Parkinson has proved inconclusive.
A Home Office pathologist carried out the examination today.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, and will not take place this evening, according to Thames Valley Police.
A statement issued by the force said: "The examination which was carried out today by a Home Office pathologist found the cause of death to be inconclusive."
Jayden, 17, a former pupil at Didcot Girls' School, was last seen 16 days ago.
Earlier today tributes to the teenager flooded in after the announcement last night that a body believed to be hers had been found at a grave in the cemetery of All Saints' Church, Didcot.
Police have been clearing the scene at the church in Lydalls Road today after removing a body from one of the graves in the churchyard.
