MOTORISTS will face delays again today as emergency gas works block part of Botley Road in Oxford.

Drivers reported major tailbacks because of the works at the junction with Ferry Hinksey Road.

Traffic lights were in place all day yesterday and are expected to continue until this evening as workers continue to try to fix a gas leak.

The last time roadworks were carried out in the same place, by Thames Water in July, traffic was often backed up onto the A34.

Southern Gas Networks spokesman Richard Lowes said: “We have made good progress and our engineers are working into the evening.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience these essential works may have caused.”
