ABINGDON Rotarians and the MG Car Club have donated to charities £3,000 raised at this year’s Abingdon Works Car Show.

On Tuesday, the clubs presented cheques for £1,000 each to Macmillan Cancer Support, Thames Valley Children’s Air Ambulance Trust and to other rotary charities including Aspire.

The money was handed over in a ceremony at Kimber House in Cemetery Road, headquarters of the MG Car Club (MGCC).

The ceremony was attended by George Woodward and Simon Pedrazzini of MGCC, Abingdon Rotary vice-president Peter Fulk, Anna Fowler and Tracey Mallinson of Macmillan Cancer Support and Michael Bell of Abingdon Rotary.

Ms Mallinson said: “I would like to thank the Abingdon Rotary Club and the Abingdon Works Centre for supporting Macmillan with their hugely successful car show.

“Their generous donation to Macmillan will help us to provide a range of practical, emotional and financial help for people in Oxfordshire.”

The Abingdon Works Show was held on July 7 in Ryecroft Meadow.
