SOUTHERN Electric will invest £9.9m in Oxfordshire’s infrastructure this winter.

The electricity provider claims it is ramping up its contingency plans to make sure the lights stay on in Oxfordshire if severe weather hits the local network.

And £9.9m of a total South East pot of £90m will be spent around the county, including £600,000 projects at substations in North Hinksey and Headington.

Similar projects have been completed at key substations in Cowley and Fyfield.
