A CONSERVATIVE councillor is due to go on trial today charged with stealing £154,000 from a 91-year-old woman.
John Morgan, 74, denies the theft from Beryl Gittens, of Newbury, between March 2005 and January 2012.
The Vale of White Horse district councillor has stepped down as vice-chairman of the council’s planning committee.
He is on bail and the trial is due to last three to four days.
