A CHARITY trying to help young, female binge drinkers has launched a smartphone app to help girls get home safely after a night out.
Witney-based Wash My Pink Jumper was founded by Kym-Marie Cleasby, 50, after her daughter Beth started binge drinking at university.
It has unveiled a customised version of the app YourNight, to enable girls to find out where they are, get a taxi home and even be tracked.
Mrs Cleasby said: “The app was developed by a man working with street pastors in northern England.
“Once it is on her phone a young woman who might have lost her friends or her handbag and has had too much to drink, can tap it with a finger and access her location on a map, ring a taxi or get directions.”
She hopes to add the phone numbers of groups like Rape Crisis and The Samaritans.
The name Wash My Pink Jumper is from a coded phrase Mrs Cleasby and her daughter Beth, 24, used during Beth’s recovery.
