COMMENT: One way to get a criminal off the streets
9:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
GOING to jail is no laughing matter. Or it shouldn’t be, anyway. Timothy Stern – who, as we report today, walked up to a prison in the county and asked to be let in – may have made us think differently.
He was not happy about being holed up in a Bristol prison – so decided to try HMP Bullingdon instead.
It sounds like a knock-knock joke – but this is somehow a true story.
The way he went about things was not orthodox, nor was it wise.
But if we want to keep crime rates down and see justice done, we should probably encourage our criminals to bring themselves to the nearest jail.
