A drastic decision to beat deadly genetics
9:00am Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
IMAGINE the sort of fear that makes a healthy woman consider having a double mastectomy.
It is hard to do so, unless you are in the same position as Louise Preece, with an apparent genetic family disposition to breast cancer.
Mrs Preece, whose mother Linda Clark is seriously ill with ovarian and breast cancer, as well as a brain tumour, has taken the drastic step now to hopefully secure peace of mind for the future, as well as a longer, healthier life.
We wish her well as she follows the example of film star Angelina Jolie and thousands of other women.
It may have been a decision driven by fear, but it has taken enormous courage for her to go through with it.
