Chair race hots up
10:00am Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
The winner of the competition to find a new chair for Oxford’s Bodleian Library will be announced today.
Three designs have been shortlisted from 60 entries. They are from architect Amanda Levete, principal of Amanda Levete Architects, Barber Osgerby, designers of the Olympic torch, and Matthew Hilton, former head of furniture design at Habitat.
One of the designs will be the third chair in 400 years to be commissioned by the institution and will be used in the Weston Library in Broad Street, which is undergoing a £75m redevelopment until late 2014.
