School celebrates as Ofsted raises rating to good

STAFF and pupils have seen their school take a step up with a good rating from Ofsted.
Inspectors visited Bure Park School, in Lucerne Avenue, Bicester, in July.
Their newly published report said achievement of pupils, quality of teaching and leadership and management were all good – and highlighted the behaviour and safety of pupils as outstanding.
Previously inspectors ranked the school as satisfactory.
Headteacher Rob Pearson said: “It went very well. It’s a step up and we are very pleased.
“It was a positive experience and I think it’s a true reflection of hard work of the whole community. The report, I think, got a feel of the school and got it right.”
It said: “Good achievement begins in the nursery and reception classes and there is a picture of improved, and now good, progress across the rest of the school.
“As a result, standards are rising. Since the last inspection, teaching has improved from satisfactory to good, with much that is outstanding.”
Issues it highlighted for action included that older pupils “had not gained a secure approach to spelling” and that pupils needed to develop better skills in assessing their own work.
