Royal Mail workers and politicians rallied against the proposed sell-off of the company in the city over the weekend.

The rally was held in Bonn Square on Saturday in response to the news that the Government plans to float the company on the stock market.

Oxford East Labour MP Andrew Smith, who took part along with members of the Communication Workers Union, said the reception had been good.

He said: “People were queueing up to sign the petition. People who live in rural areas are very worried about the prospect of future delays.”
