A SKATE shop which opened in Oxford’s Cowley Road in 1988 has held a ‘skate jam’ to mark its 25th anniversary.
Skaters, skateboarders, BMXers and other enthusiasts met at the Meadow Lane skatepark, East Oxford, on Saturday, for seven hours of tricks, flicks and fun for the SS20 celebration.
The event was hosted by skate charity Oxford Wheels Project, which has been working on providing the city with a permanent wheels-based sport facility since 1997.
Taking part was 13-year-old Abigail Greenfield, from Charlbury, who won fifth prize in the under-16 bowl skate competition.
She was the only girl competing and said: “It was brilliant, there were quite a lot of people and a lot of amazing skating going on.”
