4:49pm Sunday 15th September 2013 in News
A WOMAN was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after a major fire spread through four houses in Padbury Drive.
The blaze broke out in one of the homes at around 9.40am on Saturday and spread to neighbouring properties.
At its height, there were 60 firefighters battling the blaze. A 40-year-old woman was treated by paramedics on the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to the town’s Horton Hospital to be checked over.
No-one else was thought to be injured. The fire was on the top storey of the building and spread into the roof space and compartment walls.
Station manager Chris Wilson said: “The crews worked extremely hard in very hot, difficult conditions, wearing breathing apparatus and deploying high pressure hose lines.”
Firefighters are working with Thames Valley Police to investigate the cause of the fire.
