EIGHT-year-old Nell Peto gave a helping hand as her neighbours took on residents from a nearby street in a tug of war.
The event happened at a street party aimed at bringing the community together in Clive Road, Cowley, on Saturday.
The party featured children’s entertainment, plant stalls, live music and food.
The party culminated in a tug of war against residents from Campbell Road, which also held a street party on Saturday.
The battle was a one all draw.
Nell said it was ‘great fun’ taking part in the tug of war.”
Mum Polly Stein, 44, of Churchill Road, said: “It was a lovely day. I just felt like we were all involved in the community spirit.”
Clive Road resident Evandro Ribeiro, 35, who was with wife Luciana, 25, and children Nicole, four, and Haniel, two, said: “It was good to meet people from the same road. You feel safer if you know who you are living by.”
Susan Grote, of organisers CLARA Residents’ Association, said: “It was to get people out meeting neighbours. It was about making friends so when you walk down the street you say hello.”
It was the fourth year of the event.
