Smoking shelters OK
10:00am Saturday 7th September 2013 in News
Councillors have given permission for three smoking shelters at the Horton General Hospital.
Cherwell District Council’s planning committee backed the plan on Thursday night.
The shelters will go by the maternity unit, A&E and the Banbury Road entrance.
The trust banned smoking at its sites in 2007 and has applied to install nine shelters at its Oxford hospitals, the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
Anti-smoking group Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) branded the move a “backwards step”.
A decision has yet to be made on the others by Oxford City Council.
