New view on region's waterways
5:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
Cherwell District Council councillor Ken Atack has been appointed to the South East Waterway Partnership, which oversees how the region’s canals are looked after.
A former banker, and Cherwell’s current lead member for financial management, Mr Atack has a keen interest in canals. He lives with his wife Sandra near Cropredy in a house once lived in and used to make ropes by George Eaves for use on the Oxford Canal in the 19th Century.
He said: “I’m looking forward to helping shape local decisions, advise on the development of the waterways and come up with new projects that will hopefully encourage more people and boaters to visit the region’s wonderful canals.”
