A man accused of attempting to murder a former pupil at King Alfred’s School in Wantage could stand trial next year.

Mohamoud Elmi, 32, is accused of stabbing West Midlands Pc Adam Koch at a mosque in Birmingham on June 15.

Elmi, of Ward End Hall Grove, Washwood Heath, Birmingham, did not appear at Birmingham Crown Court for his preliminary hearing yesterday but is due to appear for a plea hearing on November 12.

The court has put aside seven days for a trial from January 29.
