Wrestlers and cupcakes star at the first Littlemore Fair
10:30am Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
SUMO wrestling, jousting, fairground rides, and plenty of cupcakes were on the menu at the first Littlemore Fair.
The bank holiday fun day at The George pub in Sandford Road on Monday has been booked in again for the same time next year.
Rania Freij, of Banbury-based Magic Mixer (Rania’s Cakes), spent all Sunday baking coffee and walnut cakes, Victoria sponge, carrot cakes and cupcakes.
She said: “It was a good atmosphere – fantastic – and the weather was lovely.”
The George manager and organiser, Nigel Woodley, said: “We were very happy with the response and friendliness of the locals.
“They ranged from babies to families and the elderly, with everybody mixing together.
“It built up and built up. It was manic by the end of the day.”
Around 650 people were at the event from noon until 6pm.
About £800 raised for local charities, including Oxfordshire brain injury charity Headway.
