OXFORD’s only lapdancing club is heading for court again.
The High Court had backed Oxford City Council’s decision to refuse The Lodge Gentleman’s Club in Oxpens Road a new licence, forcing the venue to close in June.
But owner Al Thompson took his fight to the Court of Appeal, which has ruled in his favour.
Mr Thompson released a short statement which said: “Following on from our surprise at the Judicial Review we are pleased to have confirmation that the Court of Appeal has granted us permission to appeal the High Court decision.”
The Lodge was forced to close in June when the city council denied it an entertainment licence.
Mr Thompson went to the High Court to get the decision overturned but saw his case thrown out. He applied to the Court of Appeal to review the matter and has been successful.
The club has since re-opened on a temporary basis.
Oxford City Council confirmed it had received a copy of the decision notice and said it would contest the appeal.
