A MAN has been accused of two sexual assaults against a woman walking home in Oxford.

Kenrick Swaby, of Gladstone Road, Headington, is standing trial at Oxford Crown Court for crimes he is alleged to have committed on June 25 last year.

Prosecutor Graham Smith said the 18-year-old complainant alleged the assaults occurred in Long Lane, Littlemore, at 6.30pm.

He told the jury the woman received a text message from an unknown number which read: “I want to have sex with you.”

Mr Smith said: “The next thing she was aware of was the defendant appearing by her side.

“And he said ‘did you get it?’ in an obvious reference to the text message she had just received.”

He said the woman tried to ignore Swaby, but he followed her and put his hand on her crotch, first over and then under her leggings.

Mr Smith added: “She didn’t know what to do.

“She was scared and she didn’t know what he might do.”

He told the jury the defendant said “I’ll see you at eight” before walking off.

Mr Smith said the woman received four more text messages from Swaby and doesn’t know how he got her mobile phone number.

But cross-examining the complainant yesterday, James Reilly, defending, suggested that she was not telling the truth.

He said: “You gave him your telephone number, didn’t you?”

The witness replied: “At no point did I give him my number.”

The trial continues.
