THIS is the meadow in West Oxfordshire which will be spreading seeds of change across the county.
It is part of Prince Charles’s “coronation meadow” project to celebrate 60 years since The Queen was formally invested in her role.
One coronation meadow has been named in each county and the 320-acre Chimney Meadows, near Bampton, has been selected for the scheme.
It will be used to collect seeda and green hay to create new meadows around Oxfordshire.
Lisa Lane, of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust, which owns the site, said: “I am delighted. It confers a certain status upon it but it really celebrates what we have got here.
“There is nothing better than a summer day when you can hear the insects buzzing and the colourful wildflowers. Chimney Meadows is a special place. You don’t find meadows in the countryside like this.”
The trust purchased the site in 2003 and added the 11-hectare Upper Common to it last year.
