HEADINGTON has become the first part of Oxford to take part in a “community speedwatch” initiative.
Most of Headington’s streets limit vehicles to 20mph, but many drivers are continuing to flout the law by going too fast.
Now the area’s neighbourhood policing team has put power in the hands of residents by arming them with speed checking devices.
Registration numbers of speeding cars are entered on a database, triggering a warning letter.
County councillor Roz Smith is pictured with Pcso Jo Garden and Lime Walk resident Phil Gauron trying out one of the devices.
