A CEREMONY marked 150 years of a leading Oxford independent school.
St Edward’s chaplin Charlie Kerr held a blessing opposite the former New Inn Hall Street site on Sunday.
A plaque was also unveiled on the school building, replacing one stolen two years ago.
The Rev Kerr said: “It was wonderful.
“It was at the very spot the school was founded. “It was quite moving to think of this more than 150 years ago.”
Dignitaries also retraced the walk by pupils from the former school – now in Woodstock Road – to the Church of St Thomas the Martyr.
