TWO people have been arrested in connection with an assault on a father-of-four.
Azeem Nawaz, 32, was left unconscious in the street with a fractured skull after the incident in March Street on March 9.
Two men, aged 20 and 27, both from Burnley, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding in connection with the assault.
Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until May 31.
Around 10 days ago a £3,000 reward was offered to help discover how and why Mr Nawaz, who is in a stable condition in Royal Preston Hospital, had been injured.
The Crimestoppers money came as the family made emotional pleas for information.
Waseem Sarwar, his brother-in-law, begged for witnesses to come forward as the family struggled to explain to Mr Nawaz’s four young daughters - Arooj, 10, Natasha, six, Anusha, four, and Fathima, 21 months - what had happened to their father.
Mr Sarwar, 35, said: “It is extremely difficult for his four daughters to understand.
“They are all asking every night: ‘Where’s daddy? When’s he coming home?’."
A passing motorcyclist found self-employed builder Mr Nawaz, of Farrer Street, Nelson, in the street and bleeding from the ear shortly after 8pm on March 9.
