AFC Hatfield's second away game of the Easter period was another away trip, this time a visit to Evergreen on Easter Monday.  Evergreen were an unknown quantity as Hatfield had not played them yet this season.  AFC made four changes to the side that played Buntingford last Saturday with Lee Brinkley and Jake Hoy both returning to the starting line-up and manager Mark Zienkowicz making his first full appearance this season.  Kyle Edwards also made his full debut for the Club.
It was clear from the start that the strong wind would have a big impact upon the game all afternoon and as Hatfield were kicking into the wind in the first half they were hoping to grab an early goal and dominate the first period but as it turned out it was Evergreen that took the lead after only three minutes when an unmarked Aronolo Adzahoe converted a cross from the left from close range.  AFC had a good chance to get on level terms when a cross from Lee Brinkley was scooped over the bar by Kyle Edwards but twenty minutes into the first half Hatfield got their reward when a free-kick from Ray Whyte was headed over the goal line by Ade Hammill for the equalising goal.
Hatfield stepped up the effort and had four good goalscoring opportunities over the next twenty minutes but frustratingly were unable to convert any of these chances into goals.  Firstly, Kyle Edwards hit the post with the goal at his mercy and then had a shot at goal which was deflected for a corner.  Lee Brinkley hit the side netting after having been put through by Whyte and then a corner from Ross Davidson was headed over by Mark Zienkowicz.  Hatfield were made to rue these chances as a minute before the break Evergreen took the lead when a free-kick into the penalty area was headed home by Louis Wahman to give the home side a 2-1 lead at half-time and AFC facing an uphill task kicking against the strong wind in the second half.
Seven minutes into the second period, Evergreen increased their lead when following an AFC attack, a long ball out of defence found Paul Lelliot who flicked the ball over the head of Hatfield's keeper Sunny Pal to make it 3-1.  AFC deserved great credit for the way they battled to get back into the match and in the second half they did enough to get a point out of the game at the very least.  Chances came thick and fast over the next half hour and on the hour Lee Brinkley unfortunately skewed the ball wide of the post after having been sent through by Kyle Edwards.  Five minutes later, Hatfield pulled a goal back when some excellent work from skipper Ade Hammill set up Ray Whyte who sent a vicious shot spinning off the post and into the net to make it 3-2.
Twenty minutes from time, Hatfield sent on substitute Ben Prudence in place of Mark Zienkowicz for his debut in AFC's colours and a couple of minutes later Sunny Pal made a wonder save at close range to keep Hatfield in the game.  After that it was all Hatfield as they peppered the Evergreen goal but somehow the Evergreen keeper Perry Smith kept out a Dan Zienkowicz shot which was creeping in at the far post and then made a comfortable save from a Ray Whyte goalbound strike.  Ben Prudence let fly with two strikes over the bar and in the last minute a low cross into the penalty area from Ross Davidson eluded everybody and no Hatfield player was able to force the ball home and the score remained 3-2 to Evergreen at the final whistle.  It was a spirited performance from Hatfield particularly in the second half kicking against the wind.  It was ultimately disappointing though as they had created enough chances to win the game but ended up without getting any reward.  For the second match in succession the Man of the Match award sponsored by The Galleria was given to Ray Whyte.
