Bradford’s oldest public building, Bolling Hall, will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford this weekend.

Lord Mayor, Councillor Dale Smith, will cut the ribbon at the launch event on Saturday at 2.15pm.

The launch will be marked by free family activities including stories, quizzes, the chance to meet Bookstart Bear and characters from the past, and the opportunity to design your own family coat of arms.

The refurbishment of the Bradford Council-owned building, included the incorporation of a new library, which replaced the former East Bowling Library. It also involved signs, lighting and security, and work to the exterior pathways to improve disabled access.

Coun Smith will cut the ribbon at 2.15pm. Family events will be held between 2pm and 4pm.

He said: “It is an honour to officially open Bolling Hall Museum and Library.”

A virtual tour can now be enjoyed in the museum’s foyer.

A spokesman said at the time: “Bolling Hall Museum is a Grade I listed building and grade I buildings are of exceptional interest. They are sometimes considered to be internationally important.”
