Teaching and grades still need to improve at a school that became an academy five years ago.
Ofsted’s latest inspection report for Maltings Academy in Witham, published on Thursday, said although the amount of pupils gaining five A* to C grades at GCSE had risen sharply, not enough included English and maths compared with similar schools.
But pupil behaviour and safety was graded outstanding and leadership and management were good.
