I am surprised there are not more accidents on Morrell Avenue. I have never understood why there is parking allowed on both sides of this bus route. As all of the houses along this road have garages and/or driveways and there are no commercial premises in the road why should any roadside parking be allowed. The double sided parking means that it is not possible for a bus to pass safely another vehicle from the opposite direction and is obviously unsatisfactory from a road safety point of view. If it is deemed that roadside parking along Morrell Avenue is for some reason necessary then it should be allowed on one side of the road only. I am sure that no parking or one sided parking would receive the support of the Oxford Bus Company. Perhaps this action will prompt some action from the authorities on this matter. I would finally point out that in terms of value for money road safety could be substantially enhanced for very little cost - the only cost being to overpaint the parking spaces and paint double yellow lines.
