Date set for women's race to raise cancer cash
11:00am Monday 18th March 2013 in News
CANCER Research UK has announced this year’s Race for Life women’s run will take place on Sunday, July 14.
Up to 6,100 women are expected to run the 5k at University Parks, South Parks Road to raise £350,000.
Last year’s city event at the parks saw 5,863 women raise £341,003.
Organiser Simon Burley said: “We are very grateful to everyone who have taken part in Race for Life in Oxford.
“Thanks to them, Cancer Research UK has been able to make progress against many forms of the disease.”
Supporters and volunteers attended an event at the University of Oxford’s Richard Doll building, where some of the charity’s scientists are based, on Wednesday. A new slogan was unveiled at the event: “Cancer, we’re coming to get you”.
Entry costs £14.99 per adult aged 16 and over and £10 per child. Entry is free and no registration is needed for children aged five and under. To sign up visit raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/choose-your-event/oxford.html
