UNUSUAL materials help Modern Art Oxford’s new artist-in-residence create extra special sculptures.

Zsuzsanna Nyúl is basing herself at the venue for the next two weeks and will be inviting members of the public to watch her work and even take part.

Ms Nyúl said: “I use unconventional materials like black grout which helps to articulate the ‘space of creation’, where thoughts, associations, objects are appearing and disappearing.

“I try to materialise something which is in a constant flux.”

She is holding free drop-in open day sessions at the Pembroke Street gallery on Wednesday and Thursday next week and on Wednesday, March 27, between noon and 4pm.

On Saturday, March 30, she will be leading a family workshop from 1pm to 4pm.

Visitors will be able to create their own sculptures in clay, taking inspiration from the Hans Josephsohn exhibition which will be running at the gallery until April 14.

Although this workshop is free of charge, advance booking is essential.

To book a place,call 01865 722733s or go to the gallery’s website modernartoxford.org.uk
