Mohammed Abbasi
MOHAMMED ABBASI has this evening taken the oath of office as Oxford’s new Lord Mayor.
Mr Abbasi, a 70-year-old Labour councillor, will be the city’s new civic leader for two months after he stepped up to the role from his previous position of deputy.
The unexpected promotion comes after Lib Dem councillor Alan Armitage stood down over “inappropriate” comments made to a schoolgirl last year.
The next official Lord Mayor, Dee Sinclair, will take office in May, but a figurehead for the council was needed to bridge the gap.
Green councillor and former Lord Mayor Elise Benjamin will be Mr Abbasi's deputy. The pair were sworn in at a special council meeting tonight.

It is very noticeable that the word inapropriate is bieng used frequently in the press lately and it poses a few questions.
I hope someone could post a definition and possibly explain who is responsible for deciding what is and what is'nt appropriate.
I fear this is another example of political correctness as the word is so ambiguious and bieng used to discribe actions of many people in a large number of contects.
Perhaps someone could publish the definative guide to Inapropriate behaviour so we are all aware what the p/c brigade do not want us to say or do.
