LABOUR politician Joe McManners has resigned his city council seat with immediate effect.
An official announcement about the resignation is expected later today, but the council’s website was amended this morning to remove Dr McManners’s details.
The GP, who sits on the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, confirmed this morning that he had stood down.
His resignation is believed to be timed so a by-election for his seat in the Churchill ward can be held the same day as the county council elections on May 2.
