Strictly Bicester gets dancing for charity

NOVICE dancers are learning to cha cha cha so they can take to the Bicester stage and raise money for their favourite charity.
A beauty therapist, teachers, a carpet salesman, bank workers, a pet shop owner, an administrator, a linguist, a hair salon manager and a sports centre assistant have put on their dancing shoes and have just eight weeks to get into the groove for the second Strictly Bicester.
Sue Douglas is organising the show loosely based on the successful BBC programme.
Sixteen novice dancers have been partnered by members of the Step by Step Dance School and train every Sunday at Ardley Village Hall.
Each competitor is sponsored for their chosen charity with the winner’s charity also getting a percentage of the show’s takings.
Last year’s show raised more than £12,000.
Mrs Douglas, of Hambleside, Bicester, said: “We have just completed week three training and the atmosphere is fantastic, very friendly and we are having loads of fun.”
The finale will take place over two nights, April 20 and 21, at Bicester Community College, Queens Avenue, at 7.30pm.
