Wheatley post may be late says Royal Mail

RESIDENTS in Wheatley are being told their mail could be delivered later than usual due to a change in the way delivery routes are managed.

Fewer letters are now posted every day, but Royal Mail is handling an increasing number of parcels due to online shopping, and will use more delivery vans as a result. Similar changes took place in Chalgrove in January affecting 1,201 customers. In Wheatley, 2,830 residents will be affected.

Some mail could arrive earlier as a result of the changes.

Royal Mail collection and delivery sector manager Jason Scott said: “The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect in Wheatley.”

Royal Mail spokesman Mike Norman added: “In due course, these changes to delivery routes will be introduced across Oxfordshire.”

"Fewer letters are now posted every day, " but more letters are sent out with TNT/DHL/Business Post/UK Post etc... printed in the right-hand corner of envelopes in place of a Royal Mail stamp. This is known within the industry as DSA. Royal Mail has an obligation to deliver these letters under the terms of its' licence.
The regulator decrees that Royal Mail can only charge these rival companies 'X' pence per letter delivered. It costs Royal Mail 'X +y' pence to deliver them. This is why Royal Mail was running at a loss for so many years. It made a profit last year because it closed many delivery offices & sold the buildings & land. Deliveries from the closed offices were then moved to other offices.
The previous Labour Government wanted to privatise the Royal Mail. The union successfully opposed it, so the government created the new regulator to bring the company to its knees!
A new government came in. Did they rectify the problems & restore the Royal Mail to its' rightful place as the envy of the postal world.....?
No! It has SHAMEFULLY pursued the privatisation of this once great institution!!
People of Great Britain......your governments have failed you! BRITISH Gas, BRITISH Telecom, BRITISH Rail, all gone, consigned to the private sector scrap-heap. Ask yourself.... have these services improved & become more affordable to us since they were sold off?
Do you think TNT/DHL/UPS etc will deliver a letter, posted in Cornwall, to Inverness, for the same price as they will a North London to South London? I think you know the answer. People of Oxford, people of England, people of Great Britain. Make a stand, & make it now, before it is too late.
KEEP THE POST PUBLIC!
