A PANICKED duck caught in fishing line needed one animal lover, one RSPCA helper and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue to get free.
Witney resident Richard MacKenzie spotted the tangled fowl while walking in Langel Common, Witney, yesterday morning.
After initial efforts to free it with a pole the RSPCA called the fire service water rescue squad.
Mr MacKenzie, 33, said: “I heard all these ducks looking in one direction quacking away really loudly.
“The boat crew came out in and they cut it free. “There were a few people watching on who were cheering by then. I love animals but I’m not the hero here, they are the ones who freed it.”
The RSPCA is hoping to release the duck back into the wild today.
