A NEW scheme at Crowmarsh Gifford Pre-School will give youngsters a chance to get muddy and explore.
The programme launching after Easter will give the 36 children at the school in Old Reading Road freedom to play outside. Groups of eight will be taken twice a week to make dens and climb trees in small woods near the school.
School supervisor Dilys Beaumont said: “We went with them as a taster session today and they absolutely loved it.
“It is great for the kids and builds up their confidence. Not every child gets the chance to do things like this now. Some of them headed straight for trees to do some climbing and some were a bit more reserved and found a den.”
A Crowmarsh Gifford Parish Council grant of £350 bought 10 pairs of waterproof dungarees and jackets for the three and four year olds as well as flasks for hot chocolate breaks.
The programme launches on April 16.
