Teacher denies grooming boy for sex

A TEACHER yesterday told a jury he did not have a sexual relationship with a teenage boy in the early 1980s.

Geoffrey Langer, 64, was asked if he had “any sort of sexual relationship” with his accuser by Tony McGeorge, defending, while a science teacher at Woodstock’s Marlborough School.

He replied: “I did not.”

Langer, of Farley Lane, Stonesfield, said he had a “friendly” relationship with the boy – who he did not teach – outside of school.

Police had suggested to him he “groomed” the boy when was aged 14 to 16.

He said at Oxford Crown Court he was “shocked, confused” and anxious when arrested in July 2011.

The prosecution alleges Langer – who has also taught in Oxford, Banbury and Bloxham – performed sex acts on the teenager, and persuaded him to perform sex acts on him.

Langer denies three counts of indecent assault of a male under the age of 16, and serious sexual offence with a person under the age of 16. The trial is expected to conclude today.
