11:10am Thursday 7th March 2013 in News
Daniel Long
A FOOTBALL lout who abused passengers and train staff after a 24-hour drinking binge has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Daniel Long, of Andromeda Close, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, was sentenced at Reading Magistrates’ Court after previously pleading guilty to a public order offence and breach of a suspended sentence.
The 48-year-old was also banned from travelling on trains on days when there are football matches.
The court heard how Mr Long, already serving a football banning order given to him the previous December, began verbally abusing fellow train passengers around 11.10pm on Saturday, December 22, as he was returning home from watching West Ham United versus Everton in a London pub.
He then directed violence towards train staff including the manager.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers were alerted and met the service at Reading station where he was arrested.
Having breached the suspended sentence order previously placed on him, Mr Long was jailed for 20 weeks on Tuesday, February 26.
He was also given an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) and told not to travel to or through Oxford, Reading, London Paddington and London Marylebone stations on any day that West Ham United or Oxford United are playing a home or away fixture.

How does a football banning order stop you from watching a game in a pub?
"your honour the accused has a football banning order but was seen watching Man Utd v Real Madrid in a bar in Miami"
I suppose if 2 brothers who got in a fight in George st,which had absolutely nothing to do with football, get a banning order, because 8 hours earlier they had attended a football match, then anything is possible!

And further more, it makes me sick to see that the court can lock up a man for shouting on a train but a man can beat up his daughters mother in her home in front of his daughter and terrorize the both of them and he can't even get remanded until the court date!!! ABSOLUTELY NO JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY WHATSOEVER!!!

"no idea his situation" isn't it that he's a drunk who kicks off? Since his mum is, you say, dead, then God rest her soul, happy that it is she shall not read about what she brought into the world.
P.S. You walk in his shoes if you want. I try to avoid that kind of thing

All I can say is that if you are this man's 'friend' and your joint attitudes are of a similar ilk, then I am not surprised at his behaviour. I suppose you might be next to join him inside or subject to ASBO if you carry on like this.
