Shoppers buying into night vision
12:00pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in News
STRANGERS were invited to link arms as part of a piece of street theatre by Oxford’s Reclaim the Night to flag up their annual march later this week.
Each year, the organisation arranges for hundreds of women to walk through Oxford to take a stand over violence against women.
Shoppers in Cornmarket Street on Saturday were asked to think how they would demonstrate listening, trust, friendship, community, and empathy. Organiser Kirsty Braithwaite said: “It was really fun to get a bit of audience participation and chat a little about what Reclaim the Night is.”
Friday’s women-only march starts at 6pm at the junction of Cowley Road and Magdalen Road.
It will end with a mixed gender rally at the Town Hall in St Aldate’s from 7pm.
