A WOMEN’S singing group is gearing up to perform at Oxford Town Hall for International Women’s Day on Friday.

The group of 12 called Barton Sings were mid-rehearsal on Thursday at Barton Community Centre in Underhill Circus.

They will be the musical accompaniment to the festival procession as it enters the Town Hall in St Aldate’s.

Group leader Janet Stansfeld, right, from Headington, said: “It is about women being more vocal and getting their voices heard.”

I love the Barton Singers and have all their records even their very early ones. I have a poster of the group in my bedroom and just love the lead singer Ro.
