Full of beans: Jade Gilmore and Jacob Bayquen
YOUNGSTERS can explore plants that produce Fairtrade products at Oxford’s Botanic Garden.
The University garden in Rose Lane has devised a special exhibition during Fairtrade Fortnight, a campaign to raise awareness of Fairtrade products that runs until Sunday, March 10.
Pupils from Cholsey Primary School including Jade Gilmore and Jacob Bayquen, both nine, were among the first to take a look at the display of plants and produce.
Education officer Kelly Smith said: “We have cocoa beans and plants with cocoa pods on it. We also have bananas and an orange tree, as well as sugar and rice.”
Fairtrade is a charity that campaigns for better prices and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
