Banbury man jailed for year over indecent images of children

A MAN who distributed hundreds of indecent images of children has been jailed.

Christopher Lines, of Grimsbury Drive, Banbury, was handed a one-year prison sentence at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday.

The 39-year-old admitted 18 counts of distributing indecent images, three counts of incitement to distribute indecent images, and 16 counts of making indecent images.

The court heard that more than 100 of the most extreme ‘level five’ images had been downloaded on to his laptop and home computer in 2004 and 2006.

Lines was arrested in 2010 but because of delays in processing evidence the case took longer than usual to come to trial. Tony McGeorge, defending, said the amount of time taken to bring the case to trial should reduce the sentence given to his client.

Judge Patrick Eccles agreed, but added that such delays were common in case where computers need to be analysed.

He said sharing the images with other people on the internet was treated very seriously by the courts.

He said: “This increases the risk that young boys and girls will be exploited.”
