BEANS on toast and ready meals could be off college menus for good.
Going under the name Student Vegetable Diaries, Ben Wilkins visited Oxford Hub in Turl Street to show how easy it is to grow nutritious greens using everyday objects and food waste.
He gave an expert lesson at the OxCo-op, which helps students afford ethical products, on creating cress heads from compost, tights, seeds and a few rubber bands.
The 25-year-old osteopathy student at Oxford Brookes University said: “Growing your own is a fantastic thing and it’s become such an important and enjoyable part of my life that I want others, who maybe never even considered it before, to grab some seeds and see what they can grow.
“Importantly, I want to use my newfound knowledge and experience to take the hassle out of growing.”
