Alice Blake and Feargus Murphy take part
BUDDING painters had their chance to help recreate one of The Ashmolean’s finest works on Sunday.
A copy of Camille Pissarro’s View from my Window Eragny-sur-Epte was split into 60 individual squares so members of the public could unleash their inner artist.
The pictures will be put together and put on show at the Beaumont Street museum.
It is part of a nationwide series of events to celebrate the completion of Your Paintings, a website showing the entire UK national collection of oil paintings created by the BBC in partnership with the Public Catalogue Foundation.
Pictured taking part in the Pissarro paint-in are Alice Blake, 23, and Feargus Murphy, 25.
Mr Murphy, who was visiting Oxford from London, admitted: “I am not much of a painter.”
He added: “My version wasn’t as colourful as the original and when you begin you realise just how difficult it is, but I think it was pretty good in the end.”
More than 200,000 paintings by more than 37,000 artists are now available to view online at bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings Picture: OX57417 Ric Mellis
